Do you any of you have a Google Wave account? If so, how do you envision using this tool for workshopping? Are any contributors to this blog interested in workshopping pieces over Google Wave during the upcoming semester break?

I've been thinking of every possible use for Google Wave, and workshop didn't even cross my mind. That would be super cool.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about Google Wave until this post. How cool. I'm definitely interested in a workshop over break.
ReplyDeleteI have it but have no idea what it's for...or how best to use it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a contributor to this blog, but I'd be interested in using Wave to workshop some things over break. More so to explore the possibilities of it than to get really serious feedback, but that sounds like what you're interested in, too, Christopher.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, let me know! :) And Jennifer, if you need/want an invite, I'd be happy to send you one.
Margosita-- Could you send me an invite? I'd appreciate it. I think my email is on my google profile.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, it's sent! I think it might take a day or two to go through, but then you'll be Waving!
ReplyDeleteI'd like an invite too. I am like Tory, I don't know how to use it but I've heard of it. I don't want to miss out on the possible workshop! jkgadson at hotmail.com please!
ReplyDeleteI invited you as well, JayTee. :) It might take a couple days.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of using Google Wave for workshop, but that does sound intriguing -- like Margosita, I'm not a contributor but I'd be interested, if that's okay...?
ReplyDeleteI have 8 invites left -- if anyone else wants one, let me know.
Thanks Margosita! I'm up and running and confused! lol
ReplyDeleteI know the workshop wasn't my idea and I have no idea how it's going to be run, but I don't see a problem with contributors and non-contributors participating.
Chris- maybe you could give us an idea of how you think it could work for a workshop. I'm really intrigued.
I'd be down for some casual workshopping over break.
ReplyDeleteSeparate groups for fiction and poetry? (Not that I don't have a pretty bad fiction story I would love to hear some feedback for...)
And though I'm sure we all want to make good impressions, maybe this online workshop could be a more relaxed space where we're not trying to kick the poem's whole ass before we bring share it?
What do y'all think? Let's hear some more suggestions...
(Oh, and we should probably send 2-3 poems/stories around before we start workshopping, so we know what people maybe like to do more in their work and don't give them feedback that isn't as helpful for their current directions...just a suggestion, but I think it would be a good idea.)
Whoops "bring share it" should have been bring or share it, but not both at the same time. Awesomely bad!

ReplyDeleteOh, how secure is Google Wave? I like the idea of being able to share work with people without publishing it online and losing the ability to submit elsewhere. I'm looking forward to reading the work of you all (my peers!).
ReplyDeleteGot an invite to Google Wave, so don't send one to me! Thanks for the generous offers. I look forward to learning about it and using it (hopefully with you all)!
ReplyDeleteGoogle Wave for workshop? That is a GENIUS idea.
ReplyDeletePretty please send an invite to bethanylcarlson (at) gmail (dot) com
bethany -- sent.
ReplyDeleteInvited, Bethany!
ReplyDeletethank you, lindsay & margosita! (-:
ReplyDeletei received google wave from a friend but i haven't found a use for it yet either. i can see it working well for workshop but everyone has to have an account for it to work. would love to hear more about how it goes for those of you who try it!
